Of the coastal landslide images taken that early Sunday morning, this is the most dramatic. The 6.7 magnitude earthquake on October 15, 2006 was quite a sensational experience- one that has been hard to top. The horizontal motion combined with the duration of the shake loosened large amounts of our fairly loose volcanic soils, returning part of the island to the sea.
